Boston, MA (My Sportsbook) - New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi will reportedly announce his retirement Monday from the NFL after a 13-year career with the team. NBC's Al Michaels reported the impending retirement on "Sunday Night Football," and the Boston Globe reported the team has scheduled a news conference for Monday at 10:45 a.m. (et). Bruschi, 36, a one-time Pro Bowl selection, totaled 1,138 tackles, 30.5 sacks and 12 interceptions in his career with the Patriots. He won three Super Bowls with New England and was the league's Co-Comeback Player of the Year (with Carolina's Steve Smith) in 2005 after returning to play following a mild stroke. A former defensive end at Arizona, Bruschi tied the NCAA Division I-A sack record with 52 during his time with the Wildcats. He was a two-time All- American (1994, 1995) and was selected in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft by New England. Bruschi immediately made the transition to linebacker in his rookie season and recorded two sacks in the Patriots' loss to the Packers in Super Bowl XXXI. He would go on to be one of the key cogs in New England's defense that won three Super Bowls in four seasons. He played in 13 games -- 12 starts -- in 2008, recording 75 tackles. Bruschi most recently played in the Patriots' preseason game against Washington on Friday, recording one tackle.
