Edinburgh, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Georgios Samaras scored in the 41st minute and Celtic was able to hold out for the final 30 minutes with 10 men to secure a 1-0 win over Hibernian at Easter Road Stadium on Sunday.
Both sides entered the match having won their opening two games, but after Samaras put the Hoops ahead shortly before halftime, the main talking point became the sending off of Celtic's Aiden McGeady, who picked up a second yellow card in the 62nd minute for diving.
Celtic was on the wrong end of a penalty decision given to Arsenal's Eduardo in a Champions League playoff in midweek as the Croatian drew the penalty with an apparent dive.
However, Celtic was on the other end of the call this time, and the decision clearly upset manager Tony Mowbray.
The Hoops entered the match having won just once in six trips to Easter Road, but they started well and nearly opened the scoring after 18 minutes when Samaras headed Danny Fox's corner kick off the crossbar.
McGeady then picked up his first yellow card for a foul on Derek Riordan, while Samaras found the net a few minutes before halftime when he got on the other end of a cross from Andreas Hinkel and headed it past goalkeeper Graham Stack.
However, McGeady was hit with a second yellow card for diving, reducing Celtic to 10 men for the final 30 minutes of the match, and Hibs nearly capitalized when David Wotherspoon's long-range shot was tipped off the post by goalkeeper Artur Boruc.
Boruc was called upon again to make a good save on Riordan before substitute Colin Nish fired inches over the crossbar, allowing Celtic to hold on for three points.
Hearts earned its first point of the season following two losses as they picked up a 2-2 draw at St Johnstone.
David Obua looked to have won it for Hearts with a goal in the 86th minute that put the Edinburgh club up 2-1, but Martin Hardie scored a goal deep into stoppage time to salvage a point for the hosts.
