Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - Drew Stanton threw a touchdown and a two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter to help the Detroit Lions take an 18-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts in preseason action.

Daunte Culpepper started under center for Detroit and went 7-for-12 for 67 yards and a score. Matthew Stafford went 13-of-19 for 160 yards and an interception, while Kevin Smith had eight carries for 50 yards for the Lions, who have won two of their three preseason games. Calvin Johnson had four catches for 67 yards.

Peyton Manning played the entire first half and the first drive of the third and went 12-for-15 with 123 yards and a score for the Colts, who have lost two of their three preseason games. Dallas Clark had six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.

With the Colts holding a seven-point lead late in the fourth quarter, Marquand Manuel picked off a Curtis Painter pass to give the Lions the ball near midfield.

Three plays later, Stanton and Dan Gronkowski hooked up for a 21-yard score. Detroit opted to go for the two-point conversion and it was successful as Stanton found John Standeford in the end zone for an 18-17 lead with just over four minutes to play.

Detroit held Indianapolis to a three-and-out on the following possession and was able to kill off over three minutes of clock before handing the ball back, which saw the Colts have three ineffectual plays before the game ended.

The Colts scored the only points of the first quarter as Manning hooked up with Clark for a six-yard score to cap a six-play, 80-yard drive. The big play of the drive was a 36-yard pass interference call against William James on a pass attempt to Anthony Gonzalez.

On the ensuing drive, Detroit tied the game with a 12-play drive that covered 71 yards in just over six minutes and was finished on the first play of the second quarter when Culpepper connected with Bryant Johnson on a three-yard score.

After halting the Colts on their next possession, Detroit grabbed a 10-7 lead on a 21-yard field goal from Billy Cundiff with just over three minutes to play in the first half.

Manning stayed at the helm to start the third quarter and on the first possession he marched the team down the field and Donald Brown took the ball into the end zone from two yards out for a 14-10 lead.

Shane Andrus' 29-yard field goal halfway through the third quarter gave Indianapolis a seven-point lead.

Game Notes

Stanton went 4-of-6 for 56 yards...Smith added three catches for 33 yards for Detroit...The Colts managed just 49 yards on the ground, led by Joseph Addai's 22 yards on seven carries...Pierre Garcon had two catches for 82 yards for the Colts.
