London, England (My Sportsbook) - English Premier League side Arsenal completed a dominating effort in the UEFA Champions League qualifying stage, topping Scottish Premier League power Celtic, 5-1 on aggregate, after a dominating 3-1 effort at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
With the victory, Arsenal advance to Europe's premier club tournament for the 12th straight season.
After earning a 2-0 victory at Celtic in the first leg, the pressure was squarely on the visitors headed into the return leg. But Arsenal's Eduardo put the home side up 1-0 in the game, and 3-0 on aggregate, inside half-an-hour with a controversial penalty-kick goal.
Eduardo broke into the box and around a defender, but the ball got too far in front of him, and as Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc came out to challenge, Eduardo flopped, drawing a penalty-kick call by referee Manuel Enrique Mejuto Gonzalez. Eduardo then cooly slotted the shot home for the game's first goal.
That goal turned the tide, as the London club dominated the rest of the match. Emmanuel Eboue and Andrei Arshavin made it 5-0 on aggregate before Celtic's Massimo Donati pulled one goal back in the 90th minute.
