Greensboro, NC (My Sportsbook) - Ryan Moore birdied the third playoff hole Sunday to collect his first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship.

Moore closed with a five-under 65 to end at 16-under-par 264. He was joined there by Kevin Stadler (66) and Jason Bohn (62). Moore and Stadler both bogeyed the 18th in regulation, and for Moore it could have cost him the win.

"I just want to soak it in a little bit. It is my fifth year on here on tour and it felt like an uphill battle a lot to get to this point," admitted Moore, who earned $936,000 for the win.

"Just to stay positive through some injuries and keep fighting through it to give myself chances like this is great"

On No. 18, the first extra hole, Moore two-putted for par, while Stadler got up and down for his par from a bunker. Bohn was in the same bunker as Stadler and left his third in the sand. He blasted to three feet, but never putted as Moore made par to eliminate him.

Moore and Stadler headed to the 10th for the second playoff hole. Moore rolled his 58-foot birdie putt inside three feet, then watched as Stadler missed from 21 feet. Both tapped in for par and it was back to the 18th at Sedgefield Country Club.

Stadler pulled his drive into the left rough and was in trouble. Moore blasted his drive right down the middle, then stuck his approach inside nine feet.

Stadler, who was looking to join his father Craig as a winner at this event, chunked his chip from over the green. He left himself about 20 feet and two- putted from there for bogey.

Moore closed out his win in style as he drained the nine-foot birdie effort.

"I couldn't get the ball in the hole yesterday, but every tournament is 72 holes, well some are more, but I wanted to keep playing as hard as I could all the way through it and see what happens. It worked out for me today, Moore stated."

The history of the tournament was not lost on Moore either.

"It's amazing," Moore said of having his name on the same trophy as Sam Snead, an eight-time winner of this tournament. "This was actually the first PGA Tour event I played in as an amateur. After I won the U.S. Amateur in 2004, I came and played here. For this to be my first PGA Tour victory, it makes it that much better."

Sergio Garcia, who shared the lead with Chris Riley entering the final round, closed with an even-par 70 to take fourth at minus-15.

Riley stumbled to a four-over 74 to finish tied for 13th at minus-11.

The consolation for the playoff loss for Stadler was that he climbed inside the top-125 on the FedEx Cup points list and qualifies for next week's first playoff event, The Barclays.

Also moving into the top 125 and The Barclays field were Riley, Joe Ogilvie, who tied for 44th this week; former British Open winner Todd Hamilton, who tied for 24th and Jeff Maggert, who shared 13th with Riley and two others.

Those five bumped Matt Jones, former PGA Champion Rich Beem, British Open runner-up Tom Watson, Charles Warren and Andres Romero out of the playoffs.

Bohn was first into the clubhouse with his bogey-free 62. He birdied four of the first five holes and turned in 13-under after a birdie on the ninth.

He birdied the 13th then jumped into a tie for the lead at minus-16 with an eagle on the par-five 15th. Bohn parred his final three holes, then waited and watched Moore and Stadler bogey 18 to force the extra session.

Moore carded three birdies and two bogeys in a six-hole span on the front nine to turned in 12-under. Four straight birdies from the 12th moved Moore to 16- under.

The 2004 U.S. Amateur champion made it five in row with a four-foot birdie putt at 16. He was in the lead briefly before Stadler joined him at minus-17.

Moore found a bunker at the 18th and could not save par from there. He joined Bohn in the clubhouse at 16-under.

Stadler had the last chance to win in regulation. He birdied three holes on the front nine to get to 15-under. Back-to-back birdies from the 15th put him at 17-under, where he shared the lead with Moore.

Stadler parred 16 and 17, and just needed a par at the last to secure his first tour win. However, he found the rough off the tee and could only pitch out from there. Stadler's third stopped eight feet from the hole, but he missed the par-saving putt and it was off to the playoff.

Garcia could have joined the trio in the playoff, but he also found sand at the last. He got up and down for par to end one back at minus-15.

U.S. Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples closed with his second straight three-under 67 to share fifth place at 14-under-par 266. He ended alongside Kevin Sutherland (66), Justin Rose (68), Brandt Snedeker (68) and Senior PGA Champion Michael Allen (68).
