Riley and Moore in front at Wyndham Championship

Greensboro, NC (My Sportsbook) - Chris Riley fired a seven-under 63 on Friday and is tied for the lead with Ryan Moore during the second round of the Wyndham Championship.

Riley finished 36 holes at 11-under 129 and was matched atop the leaderboard by Moore, who is five-under through 17 holes in a round that will have to be completed Saturday morning.

Play was called for darkness with several golfers still on the course at Sedgefield Country Club. A four-hour delay on Thursday set the tournament back. Half of the field finished the first round Friday morning, but everything should get back on schedule if there are no further stoppages.

The players will return at 7:45 a.m. (et) Saturday to finish round two. The cut will be made and the third round will get underway.

Jeff Maggert is six-under through 17 holes and vaulted into third place at minus-10.

This is the final event to accumulate FedEx Cup points with the Playoffs starting next week. The top 125 get into the field next week at The Barclays and one player showed up just to improve his standing.

Sergio Garcia is 115th in the points race, but a six-under 64 on Friday moved him into a tie for fourth place. First-round leader Bill Haas (69) and Chez Reavie (67) joined Garcia at nine-under 131.

Riley is on the outside looking in at the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He stands in 129th, but a victory would certainly move him into the field next week and that is the goal.

"I'm here to win the tournament and get into the Playoffs," he said.

Riley was part of the wave that had to return Friday morning. He had three holes to go in his first round and bogeyed the seventh, his 16th hole of round one.

Once the second round began, Riley wasted little time in getting into red figures. At the second, Riley hit a wedge to three feet and converted the birdie effort. He made it two in a row thanks to a 20-footer at the par-three third.

Riley went for the green in two with a three-wood hybrid club at the par-five fifth. His ball landed 60 feet from the stick and he two-putted for his third birdie of the round.

Riley parred his next seven holes around the turn, but still lurked near the top of the leaderboard. He finally got back to making birdies at the 13th after his seven-iron approach stopped 12 feet from the cup. Always a great putter, Riley stroked home the birdie to reach eight-under par for the championship.

At the par-five 15th, Riley hit a hybrid club up near the putting surface. He chipped to eight feet and holed the birdie putt to grab his first share of the lead.

Riley hit a hybrid off the tee at 17 and that left him with a six-iron to the green where "guys will be hitting nine-irons and wedges." The club didn't matter on this occasion. Riley's approach came to rest four feet from the hole and he made the birdie putt to get to minus-10.

Riley missed the fairway with his drive at the 18th. His intention was to make a par and his second shot didn't get to the green. Riley holed his chip from 30 feet to polish off his 63 and take a two-shot lead.

"I'm pretty happy with my round and actually I'm delighted with my round. Sixty-three, I don't think I've shot that too much but it's been going well the last month so hopefully I'll have a good weekend."

Riley has not had a good run for quite some time. He tied for fourth place at the 2004 PGA Championship and made that year's Ryder Cup team, but since has posted only three top 10s, including a tie for seventh at this year's U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee.

That top 10 kicked off a strong run for Riley where he tied for 16th at the Canadian Open and shared 17th in Reno. He won on the Nationwide Tour in 2007 and captured the event at Reno in 2002 so he knows what it's like to be in the lead.

"There's going to be more people following and I'll be one of the last groups," Riley said about his weekend philosophy. "I'm going to try to stick to my game plan and do what I do."

Moore began on the back nine Friday and mixed two birdies and a bogey over his first nine. He birdied the opening hole, parred the next two, then caught fire.

He birdied the fourth hole, tapped in a short birdie putt at five and made it three in a row with a nine-footer at No. 6. That tied Moore with Riley and Moore will come back Saturday morning to try and birdie nine to grab sole possession of the lead.

United States Presidents Cup captain Fred Couples (66), Kevin Stadler (63), Boo Weekley (67), Marc Leishman (65) and Johnson Wagner (66) are knotted in seventh place at eight-under 132.

Defending champion Carl Pettersson shot a five-under 65 on Friday and moved into a group tied for 29th at five-under 135.
