Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Peyton Manning threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns, leading the
Indianapolis Colts to a 23-15 win over the
Philadelphia Eagles in preseason action.
Manning completed 10-of-14 passes, playing three series in the victory. His main beneficiary was Reggie Wayne, who caught two passes for 90 yards -- including a 76-yard touchdown in the opening quarter.
Curtis Painter completed 11-of-19 throws for 116 yards and recorded an interception, and Joseph Addai ran for 11 yards on just two carries. Anthony Gonzalez recorded a touchdown reception in the win.
Donovan McNabb also played just three series, completing 5-of-7 passes for 77 yards and a score for Philadelphia, which played its last preseason game without embattled quarterback Michael Vick.
During the Eagles' first preseason game -- a loss to New England -- it was announced that the team had signed Vick to a one-year deal with a team option for 2010. Having been conditionally reinstated last month into the league by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Vick is not eligible to participate in preseason action until Philadelphia's next game at home against Jacksonville on August 27.
DeSean Jackson caught McNabb's touchdown pass, a beautiful over-the-shoulder 39-yard score at the end of the opening frame. Brandon Gibson added four catches for 49 yards and a late score, while Adam DiMichele completed 14-of-22 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in defeat.
Gonzalez's and Wayne's touchdowns in the first quarter gave the Colts an early 14-0 lead, but Jackson's catch with just over a minute left in the frame cut the deficit in half.
Shane Andrus accounted for all the scoring in the second and third quarters, respectively, making field goals from 24- and 41-yards out to extend the lead to 20-7. His third field goal of the game, a 31-yarder in the fourth, made it a 16-point game.
Gibson's 21-yard touchdown grab with 26 seconds left in the contest made it 23-15 affair after a Rob Myers two-point conversion catch, but the ensuing onside kick was unsuccessful.
