Uncasville, CT (My Sportsbook) - Lindsay Whalen posted 20 points and 10 rebounds and the Connecticut Sun took a 74-69 final from the New York Liberty. Amber Holt provided 12 points off the bench while Tan White recorded eight points, as many boards and six assists for the Sun, who have won three of four. The Liberty were led by Cathrine Kraayeveld's 13 points and fell for the second time in three games. Janel McCarville had 11 points and nine boards in defeat. New York had a 38-26 halftime lead but Connecticut cut it to a one-possession game, 52-49, after three quarters and forged ahead in the fourth on White's three-ball and a Sandrine Gruda bucket with a little over five minutes left. Whalen scored the next five points to open up a seven-point lead and a Gruda jumper capped a 12-1 surge with a jumper just outside a minute left for a 72-64 advantage. Whalen sealed the win with two free throws inside the final 10 seconds. |
