=== Hunter-Reay takes quick trip around Road America ===

Elkhart Lake, WI (My Sportsbook) - American Ryan Hunter-Reay captured the provisional pole for Sunday's Grand Prix of Road America. The No.4 Herdez Competition driver circled the famed 4.048-mile road course in one minute, 43.909 seconds.

The provisional pole win earned Hunter-Reay a guaranteed front row start and one championship point.

Patrick Carpentier, who was the fastest qualifier for most of the session finished second quickest (1:44.076). Bruno Junqueira (1:44.529), Sebastien Bourdais (1:44.637) and Jimmy Vasser (1:44.859) completed the top-five.

Bourdais leads the championship through the first seven events. He holds a 27- point margin over his Newman/Haas Racing teammate Junqueira (186-159). Defending series champion Paul Tracy (142) is third following his win two weeks ago at Vancouver.

The qualifying record at Road America is 1:39.866 (145.924 m.p.h.) set in August 2000 by Dario Franchitti.

The second and final qualifying session will take place on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. (et) and the race is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 3 p.m. (et).
