New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley has been suspended for the first four games of the 2009 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Hartley said that he used pills from a friend's Adderall prescription to stay awake while driving from Dallas to New Orleans. He added that he did not realize that the stimulant was banned by the NFL. Hartley was signed by the Saints midway through last season and went 13-for-13 on field goal attempts, with a long of 47 yards, and also made all 28 extra- point attempts. To take over kicking duties for the Saints while Hartley serves his suspension, the team signed 20-year veteran John Carney on Saturday.
