Colorado Springs, CO (My Sportsbook) - The United States Olympic Committee has put a hold on plans to launch a U.S. Olympic Network. The USOC and Comcast had announced its plans last month, but after a meeting with International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge over the weekend, USOC chairman Larry Probst said the debut of the network would be delayed. "I took the opportunity to stress our commitment to being good partners with the IOC and assured President Rogge that we will secure the full support and cooperation of the IOC before we move forward with the Olympic Network," Probst said in a statement. "In order to facilitate a productive dialogue, the USOC has decided to delay further development of the Network until we have resolved all issues of concern to the IOC." Comcast and the USOC had planned to start the network sometime in 2010. "President Rogge and I agreed to meet again soon and to continue these constructive and mutually beneficial discussions," Probst added. The USON is planning to broadcast Olympic sports that don't receive coverage outside of an Olympic year. It is expected to broadcast year-round, using television, video-on-demand and online platforms.
