Regina, SK (My Sportsbook) - Weston Dressler's 13-yard touchdown run with 6 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winning score, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders held off a feisty Hamilton Tiger-Cats club, 33-23, during a rainy affair at Mosaic Stadium.
Dressler rushed three times for 25 yards and caught two passes for 27 yards to help the Roughriders (4-3) win their 11th straight game against the Tiger- Cats. Darian Durant completed 15-of-30 passes for 193 yards, while Steven Jyles completed 2-of-2 passes for 21 yards and a TD. Jyles also had a 2-yard TD run.
Defensive tackle Keith Shologan caught his first-career TD pass, while Jason Clermont led the receiving corps with four catches for 66 yards. Wes Cates led the way on the ground with 117 yards on 19 carries for the Roughriders, who have won two of their last three games.
Kevin Glenn completed 12-of-27 passes for 183 yards and a TD for Hamilton (4-3), which had won four of five coming in. Arland Bruce III hauled in four balls for 98 yards and scored his first touchdown as a member of the Tiger- Cats after being acquired from Toronto on July 29. DeAndra Cobb ran for 29 yards on six carries to go along with a TD.
With the score tied at 23-23 halfway through the fourth, the Roughriders started a drive at the Ti-Cats 42 following a Hamilton punt. Cates ran for six and four yards on first and second down, respectively, to give Saskatchewan a fresh set of downs. After Durant connected with Rob Bagg for a 19-yard pass play, Dressler took a handoff from Durant and rushed into the end zone from 13 yards out with 6 1/2 minutes to play.
The Roughriders' defense then came up big, forcing the Tiger-Cats to punt on their ensuing possession. Luca Congi sealed the win with a 15-yard field goal with less than three minutes remaining.
Saskatchewan dominated the entire first half, scoring all of the 23 points in the half to take a commanding lead.
The Roughriders took a 7-0 edge when Jyles connected with Shologan on a 1-yard TD pass with just over six minutes left in the first quarter. Congi's 38-yard field goal with under four minutes remaining in the period extended the Roughriders' margin to 10.
The Roughriders forced a safety on a botched Ti-Cats punt attempt in the early stages of the second stanza. Jyles scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with less than nine minutes left in the half to make it a 19-0 game.
A 92-yard single from Jamie Boreham and a 12-yard field goal from Congi gave Saskatchewan a 23-0 lead heading into the locker room.
Hamilton came out of the locker room a different team in the second half to make a game of it.
The Tiger-Cats first drive of the second half was capped off with a 41-yard field by Nick Setta. During Hamilton's next possession, Glenn needed just one play to hook up with Bruce on a 49-yard score.
A pair of field goals from Setta -- a 43- and a 32-yarder -- cut the deficit to 23-16 heading into the fourth period.
The Roughriders were forced to punt on their first possession of the fourth frame. Boreham's punt was blocked and recovered by Hamilton, giving them the ball at the Saskatchewan eight.
Cobb scampered into the end zone on the first play of the drive to deadlock the contest, 23-23.
