San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - Rookie Mike Teel and Seneca Wallace each threw a touchdown pass, as the Seattle Seahawks, under new head coach Jim Mora, Jr., hung on to beat the San Diego Chargers, 20-14, in the preseason opener for both clubs.

Wallace completed 8-of-12 passes for 40 yards, while Teel, a sixth-round pick out of Rutgers, connected on 7-of-15 passes for 75 yards with an interception for the Seahawks, who finished 4-12 during an injury-plagued 2008 campaign. Starting QB Matt Hasselbeck played the entire first quarter, completing 3-of-5 passes for 27 yards.

Undrafted rookie running back Devin Moore led the way on the ground, rushing for 32 yards on eight carries.

Charlie Whitehurst completed 15-of-29 passes for 193 yards and a TD but also threw two picks for the Chargers, who lost to the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs last season. Billy Volek connected on 8-of-12 passes for 122 yards. Starting QB Philip Rivers played two series, connecting on 5-of-8 passes for 26 yards.

Michael Bennett rushed for 21 yards and a score on six carries. Darren Sproles ran for 11 yards on four carries, and star running back LaDainian Tomlinson ran the ball four times for 10 yards in limited action.

After a scoreless first quarter, Bennett scampered into the end zone from two yards out with 10:16 left in the second frame to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead. John Owens caught a three-yard TD pass from Wallace with 2:20 remaining to tie the score at halftime.

Mike Hass' 18-yard TD catch from Teel was the lone score of the third quarter.

Seattle's Brandon Coutu gave the team an insurmountable edge with a pair of field goals -- both from 38 yards out -- in the fourth.

Legedu Naanee's five-yard TD reception from Whitehurst with less than four minutes left capped the scoring in the tilt.

Seattle leads the all-time preseason series with San Diego, 6-4...Mora, who served as assistant head coach/defensive backs coach with the Seahawks for the past two seasons, was promoted to the head coach of the Seahawks when Mike Holmgren retired following last season. Mora will be serving as head coach for the first time since a tumultuous three-year tenure with the Atlanta Falcons (2004-06), in which Mora led the team to an NFC Championship appearance in his first season but did not guide the club to the playoffs thereafter...T.J. Houshmandzadeh caught one pass for five yards in his Seattle debut...Seattle outside linebacker Aaron Curry, the team's No. 3 overall pick out of Wake Forest in this past April's Draft, made two tackles.
