Springfield, MO (My Sportsbook) - Dave Schultz fired an eight-under 64 Saturday to move into a share of the lead with Chad Collins after three rounds of the Price Cutter Charity Championship.
Collins, who had at least a piece of the lead after the first two rounds, managed at two-under 70 Saturday. Schultz and Collins completed 54 holes at 18-under-par 198.
Henrik Bjornstad carded a five-under 67 to move into third place at minus-16. There are five players tied at 15-under-par 201.
Schultz opened with a birdie on the first, but gave that shot back with a bogey on No. 4. That was his first dropped shot since a double-bogey on the 16th hole of the first round.
The 26-year-old, who has back-to-back top-three finishes, came back from that bogey with birdies on five, seven and nine to make the turn at 13-under.
Schultz was five off the lead at that point, but ran home three birdies in a four-hole stretch from the 11th at Highland Springs Country Club.
A birdied at the 17th gave him a share of the lead at minus-17. Schultz briefly led by himself thanks to a birdie at the 18th.
"The last couple of rounds have been a lot of fun," said Schultz, who jumped from 157th to 24th on the money list in the last two weeks. "I've been able to keep the momentum going. I was pretty disappointed after the first round, but got on a good roll yesterday and put myself in a good position today."
Collins opened with birdies on one and two to remain two clear of Scott Gardiner. He parred six straight before tripping to a bogey on the ninth. That was Collins' first bogey of the week.
The 2005 Henrico County Open winner erased that mistake with a birdie on No. 11. At that point, Collins was tied for the lead with Schultz, who finished his third round.
Collins stumbled to another bogey at 12 to fall one back. He managed to grab a piece of the third-round lead thanks to a birdie on the 17th.
"An under-par round seems like it should be good, but around here you need to be more than two-under to hold your ground," Collins explained. "It was kind of breezy and that was a little bit of a factor. But I didn't putt or hit the ball very well and that's the result."
Gardiner (71), Justin Bolli (69), Chris Nallen (69), John M. Kelly (69) and Garrett Osborn (67) are tied for fourth at minus-15. Jay Delsing (67), Camilo Benedetti (66), Will Dodson (66) and Brendan Steele (72) are one stroke back at 14-under-par 202.
