Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - Deanna Nolan scored a game-high 23 points and the Detroit Shock surged late to take an 81-77 road win from the Washington Mystics. Taj McWilliams had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Shavonte Zellous added 16 points for the Shock, who have won three of four. Cheryl Ford posted 10 points and as many boards in the win. Alana Beard led the way for Washington with 17 points but also committed a game-high five turnovers. Crystal Langhorne scored 15 and Lindsey Harding 12 to pair with eight assists for the Mystics, who blew a 12-point lead Tuesday and have dropped three of the last four games. Detroit was able to cut the lead to nine, 55-46, after three quarters and a 7-0 spurt to start the final 10 minutes cut the deficit to a bucket. Both sides saw the lead trade hands inside the final 3 1/2 minutes until a Nolan deuce sent the Shock on a 5-0 run that allowed for a 75-70 edge with 25 ticks to go. Beard sank a pair of shots around four consecutive free throws by McWilliams to keep Washington close but Detroit held on for the win after getting just enough at the line in the closing seconds.
