Lexington, OH (My Sportsbook) - Scott Dixon blazed the field to win Sunday's Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and surpass Sam Hornish, Jr. for most career victories in the IndyCar Series with 20.

Dixon passed Justin Wilson during the mid-stages of the race and then benefited from a quick pit stop to dominate late in the race. Wilson trailed Dixon by six seconds but ran out of fuel, as he coasted onto pit road for his final stop. His car then stalled while exiting his pit area.

Wilson's mishap helped Dixon to finish nearly 30 seconds ahead of pole sitter Ryan Briscoe for his series-leading fourth victory of the season. He also won on a road course for the first time since July, 2008 at Edmonton.

"The car was a breeze to drive, and we were able to stretch out anything we needed," said Dixon, who led a race-high 51 laps. "We had some passing here at Mid-Ohio, which was pretty cool."

Dixon, the defending series champion, tied Hornish's mark of 19 career wins in June at Richmond. Hornish, who won three series titles, moved to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition after the 2007 season.

With four races remaining in the season, Dixon reclaimed the lead in the championship standings. He holds a three-point advantage over Briscoe, who has finished either first or second in seven of the last nine races.

Briscoe held off Dario Franchitti in the closing laps for the runner-up finish.

"I was under a lot of pressure from Dario the last 20 laps," Briscoe said. "We thought the reds (tires) would stick at the end, and we were going for the quick-out laps. After four or five laps, it started blistering the right-front tires."

Franchitti finished third, followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay and Hideki Mutoh.

Marco Andretti came in sixth, while Paul Tracy was seventh. Tracy substituted for Mario Moraes while Moraes remained in Brazil after the passing of his father, Mario Ermirio de Moraes, last week.

Graham Rahal, Raphael Matos and Tony Kanaan completed the top-10. Kanaan recovered nicely after spinning in the gravel and falling to the rear of the field on the second lap.

Wilson, who led 28 laps before relinquishing the top position to Dixon, ended up finishing 13th.

Helio Castroneves also slid onto the gravel for the first full-course caution just before the half-way point, but Castroneves rebounded for a 12th-place finish.

Andretti Green Racing teammates Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti made contact on lap 45, with Patrick running off course onto the gravel. She wound up finishing 19th.
