Georgetown, KY (My Sportsbook) - Cincinnati Bengals tight end Reggie Kelly had season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair a ruptured Achilles' tendon. Kelly, who was placed on injured reserve, was hurt in practice Monday morning. The 32-year-old Kelly had 31 catches for 207 yards last season, his sixth with the Bengals after starting his career with Atlanta in 1999. For his career, Kelly has 184 grabs for 1,718 yards and five touchdowns. This is the first major injury for Kelly in his career. He's missed just eight games over his 10-year career. Kelly went into camp as the returning starter at tight end, but now the Bengals will look to Ben Utecht to step in that role. Rookie Chase Coffman could also get extended playing time. The Bengals also said Daniel Coats, a fullback and tight end, twisted his ankle at practice Wednesday and should be out at least a week. Coats, who was undrafted out of BYU, has played in 31 games over two seasons with the Bengals and has 14 catches for 141 yards.
