Regina, SK (My Sportsbook) - Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Scott Schultz has announced his retirement. Schultz played in 128 regular-season games and 11 playoff games for the Riders. He never missed a game due to injury during his CFL career. "This was, without question, the most difficult decision I have ever made," said Schultz, who will partner in an insurance agency. "While I still love playing football, this was a business opportunity I couldn't pass up. The timing was unfortunate, but I had to base the decision on what was best for my wife and kids." Schultz finished his career with 178 tackles and 35 sacks. He was selected by Saskatchewan with the first overall pick of the 2001 CFL Canadian Draft and joined the Roughriders midway through the season after attending an NFL training camp in San Diego. "Scott epitomized what being a Saskatchewan Roughrider is all about," said Riders president/CEO Jim Hopson. Schultz was a CFL All-Star in 2005.
