Groningen, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Ajax, in search of its first Dutch Eredivise title since 2004, opened the season with a 2-0 win over Groningen on Sunday at Euroborg Stadium. Miralem Sulejmani and Dennis Rommedahl scored for Ajax, which is currently in a five-year title drought - the team's longest dry spell since the 1960s. Under new manager Martin Jol, who joined the club from Germany's Hamburg, Ajax grabbed the lead four minutes before half when Sulejmani converted a pass from Rommedahl. Rommedahl was on the other end in the 72nd, finishing a pass from captain Luis Suarez to seal Jol's first win. Ajax has won a Dutch record 29 league titles. Also Sunday, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Leroy Fer scored to lead Feyenoord to a 2-0 win over NEC, Ola Toivonen scored twice in PSV's 3-3 draw with Venlo, and NAC opened with a 2-1 win over Den Haag.
