Mankato, MN (My Sportsbook) - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson injured his knee during practice Saturday morning. The Pioneer Press reports Jackson suffered a Grade-I sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Jackson was injured when defensive tackle Letroy Guion fell into him. Jackson walked off the field under his own power and then underwent an MRI. The grade I sprain is the most mild with grades II or III more severe. Vikings head coach Brad Childress said later Saturday that Jackson will be "just fine," and that he doesn't plan to bring another quarterback into the fold. Sage Rosenfels and Jackson were left to battle for the starting quarterback position for the Vikings after Brett Favre disclosed earlier this week he would not come out of retirement. Jackson sustained a sprained MCL in his right knee during the preseason last year. He missed the last two preseason games, but returned for the season- opener and completed 88-of-149 passes for 1,056 yards with nine touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
