Carmel, IN (My Sportsbook) - Fred Funk shot a four-under 68 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead over Greg Norman and Joey Sindelar after three rounds of the U.S. Senior Open. Funk holed a clutch 20-foot putt from just off the 17th green to save par and escaped Crooked Stick with his name atop the leaderboard at 13-under 203 on a day when a slew of other players could have said the same. Norman, still seeking his first Champions Tour win, was among them. He rolled in an 18-foot eagle putt on the 15th hole to take the lead, but lost it when he bogeyed the 16th and Funk birdied it. The 54-year-old Australian shot a 68 to share second place with Sindelar (70) at 12-under 204. Sindelar and Tim Jackson, the record-setting amateur who tied the 36-hole scoring record Saturday, played in the final pairing behind Funk and Norman. Both players squandered leads. Sindelar hit into the water at the par-three sixth and then chipped within inches just to save a bogey. He later bogeyed the 14th hole, falling into a tie with Funk for the lead, and couldn't keep up as he finished with four straight pars. Jackson knocked his tee shot into the hazard at No. 8 and made only his second bogey of the championship. He made two more of them Saturday -- at the 10th and 12th -- to shoot 73 and slip three shots off the lead at 10-under 206. MORE TO FOLLOW.
