Hamilton, ON (My Sportsbook) - Former Michigan State running back DeAndra' Cobb rushed for 167 yards on 17 carries and scored twice to lead the Hamilton-Tiger Cats past the British Columbia Lions, 30-18, at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
Cobb also caught two passes for 27 yards for the Tiger-Cats (3-2), who beat the Lions twice this year after dropping nine straight to B.C. before the season started. Quinton Porter completed 17-of-31 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception. Prechae Rodriguez caught five passes for 49 yards and a TD.
Buck Pierce completed 23-of-36 passes for 282 yards and a score, to go along with two picks. Martell Mallett rushed for 85 yards on 11 carries for the Lions (1-4), who turned the ball over six times on Friday. Ryan Grice-Mullen's only run of the night was a two-yard TD push. Paris Jackson brought in four passes for 71 yards and touchdown.
The Tiger-Cats drew first blood when Porter connected with Rodriguez on a 10- yard pass in the early stages of the first quarter. B.C. responded with a 46- yard single by Sean Whyte and a two-yard TD run by Grice-Mullen to take an 8-7 margin into the second frame.
A 50-yard field goal by Nick Setta about a minute into the second period put Hamilton back in front. Then with less than seven minutes left in the half, Cobb scored on a 14-yard run to give the Tiger-Cats a 17-8 lead.
The Lions, though, scored a touchdown and made a field goal in the final minutes of the first half to go ahead 18-17. Pierce hit Jackson with a six- yard pass and Whyte connected on a 29-yarder.
Hamilton used a strong push in the latter stages of the third quarter to take a nine-point lead. Setta drilled a 28-yard field goal with about two minutes left in the period. On the ensuing kickoff, the Tiger-Cats recovered a fumble. And just three plays later, Cobb scampered in from 15 yards out to give Hamilton a 27-18 margin heading into the final stanza.
Setta's 28-yard field goal early in the fourth capped the scoring.
