Evian-les-Bains, France (My Sportsbook) - Becky Brewerton posted a three- under 69 Saturday to remain tied for the lead after three rounds of the Evian Masters.
Brewerton, who owned a piece of the lead after the first and second rounds, completed 54 holes at 12-under-par 204. She was joined there by Sophie Gustafson (67) and In-Kyung Kim (68).
Ai Miyazato, who shared the lead after round two with Brewerton and Na Yeon Choi, managed a two-under 70 and is tied for fourth at minus-11 with Cristie Kerr (67). Karrie Webb is alone in sixth at 10-under-par 206 after a 68 in the third round.
World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa carded her second straight three-under 69 to move into a tie for 23rd at three-under-par 213. Among those she is tied with is Michelle Wie (70).
Brewerton tripped to a bogey on the second, but came right back with a birdie on No. 3 at Evian Masters Golf Club. She dropped in back-to-back birdie efforts from the sixth to move to 11-under.
Around the turn, Brewerton birdied the 10th from 15 feet out, but parred her final eight holes to share the third-round lead.
"It was definitely a bit more of a struggle today. I wasn't quite flowing with my game as I had been over the previous two days," admitted Brewerton, who won last week's Open de Espana on the Ladies European Tour.
"I have to say my short game was quite unbelievable on the back nine. I took a lot of confidence from that. Made some great up and downs that truly held the round together."
Gustafson opened with a birdie on No. 1, then parred five in a row. She converted a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-five seventh to jump to 10-under.
On the back nine, Gustafson birdied the 11th for the third day in a row, then birdied the 17th, from five feet out, to gain a share of the lead.
"I had a couple good par saves, but playing a bogey-free around here, I'm very pleased with," Gustafson said.
Kim stumbled to a bogey on the second, but caught fire near the turn. She drained four straight birdie chances from the eighth to move to 11-under. Kim's final birdie came at the par-three 17th.
"I am very excited. I've played well last couple days," Kim stated. "You know, I am fortunate to play well and be in contention."
Defending champion Helen Alfredsson (68) and 2005 winner Paula Creamer (70) are tied for seventh at nine-under-par 207. They were joined there by Choi, who only managed an even-par 72 on Saturday. Yuko Mitsuka is alone in 10th at minus-eight after shooting 71 in the third round.
