San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Chargers on Friday released linebacker Matt Wilhelm. "We appreciate Matt's effort and hard work over the past six years," said Chargers head coach Norv Turner. "We like our depth at inside linebacker, so we decided to make this move now to allow Matt a chance to land with another team." A fourth-round draft pick in 2003, Wilhelm was a reserve and special teams player for the first four years of his career before becoming a starter in 2007. Last season he split time with Tim Dobbins. For his career, the Ohio State product has amassed 171 tackles, six interceptions and a fumble recovery in 71 games -- 21 starts.
