Del Mar, CA (My Sportsbook) - Former Kentucky Derby contender The Pamplemousse remains far from returning to the races. Co-owner Alex Solis II indicated that the three-year-old may not come back until next summer. "We were thinking he might be able to make the Strub series (during Santa Anita's winter-spring meeting), but I want to make sure he's in perfect shape when we bring him back," said Solis. The Pamplemousse was withdrawn from this year's Santa Anita Derby with a small lesion on the tendon in his left front leg. The colt was the 9-5 program favorite for the 1 1/8-mile race and was considered one of the favorites for this year's Run for the Roses. The gray colt is the winner of three of five career starts for $209,280. This year he won the Sham and the San Rafael Stakes at Santa Anita.
