Ashburn, VA (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Redskins signed rookie cornerback Kevin Barnes on Thursday. Barnes, Washington's third-round selection (80th overall) in the 2009 Draft, had 85 tackles, six interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 14 passes defended in 20 starts during his final two years at the University of Maryland. In 43 career games (21 starts) at Maryland, the 6-foot, 187-pound cornerback recorded 100 tackles. Washington can now focus on signing top pick Brian Orakpo and supplemental draft addition Jeremy Jarmon. Also on Thursday, the club released undrafted rookie defensive end Derek Walker and wide receiver Jaison Williams.
