Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - U.S. coach Bob Bradley expects a "hard game" on Thursday in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, when his side meets Honduras for the second time in the tournament.
The U.S. advanced to the semifinals Saturday night with a 2-1 overtime win over Panama, while Honduras advanced with a 1-0 win over Canada.
"We're going to have to really recover quick and get right back to preparing for what will be a really tough game against a team looking for revenge," U.S. midfielder Kyle Beckerman said. "They're a talented team and we'll just try and really get ready for the game this week."
Beckerman scored in the second half and Kenny Cooper converted a penalty kick in overtime to help the U.S. rally past Panama. Honduras also advanced on a PK.
Beckerman's goal was his first for the U.S., extending a tournament-long streak for players notching their first-ever national team goals.
In the tournament opener against Grenada, a 4-0 win, Stuart Holden and Robbie Rogers each scored their first goal in a U.S. uniform.
The United States defeated Honduras 2-0 in the second match of the group stage, with Santino Quaranta notching his first U.S. goal.
Davy Arnaud continued the stretch against Haiti in the third group stage match, a 2-2 draw, with his first international goal.
The U.S. is not the same team it was when it played Honduras the first time, as Freddy Adu, Charlie Davies, Steve Cherundolo are among the players who have joined their club teams.
Bradley said after the win over Panama that he was proud of the effort the team has made without most of its top players, but knows the team faces another hard challenge against Honduras.
"We know them well and we know the way they play," Bradley said. "They play hard and have a good group of players. You can tell in this tournament the group they have has put a lot in to it, so we expect a hard game."
Defender Michael Parkhurst has rejoined the team and could replace Jimmy Conrad in the starting lineup. Conrad suffered a concussion Saturday.
Parkhurst, the FC Nordsjaelland-based defender, appeared in the United States' group games against Honduras and Haiti before returning to Denmark to start the league season.
Additionally, Chicago Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch has been called in to replace Luis Robles, who has rejoined Kaiserslauten ahead of the Bundesliga season.
Busch has been part of the official roster from the beginning but remained with the Fire until needed. Busch, the 2008 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, has one cap to his credit.
The U.S., which has won the last two Gold Cups, is trying to join Mexico as the only teams to win the tournament three straight times. Mexico plays Costa Rica in the other semifinal.
The championship is Sunday at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
