Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - Army and Notre Dame football have agreed to face each other at Yankee Stadium in 2010. The contest will be played on November 20, 2010 and will mark the 50th meeting between the storied programs. It will also be the 23rd meeting at Yankee Stadium and the first football game at the new edition of the historic ballpark, which opened across the street from the original Yankee Stadium this past April. "We could not be more excited about bringing 'big-time' college football back to Yankee Stadium," said Army athletic director Kevin Anderson. "I'd like to thank the Steinbrenner family and the entire New York Yankees organization for giving us the opportunity to play the first college football game at the new Yankee Stadium." Notre Dame owns a record of 14-5-3 against Army at Yankee Stadium, but the two have not met at the venue since 1969. "It's fitting that a Notre Dame-Army game will be the first football event in this fabulous facility -- and it's also fitting that the 50th meeting in this great rivalry will take place in a venue with such great tradition for both programs." Army and Notre Dame played at Yankee Stadium from 1925-29 and again from 1931-46 before returning for the 1969 contest. The 1928 matchup featured Irish head coach Knute Rockne's famous "win one for the Gipper" halftime speech and Notre Dame went on to a 12-6 victory. Later in the day, it was announced Yankee Stadium will host additional college football games, including an Army home game in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Details will be made available at a Wednesday morning press conference.
