Athens, GA (My Sportsbook) - The University of Georgia extended the contract of women's basketball coach Andy Landers on Friday, keeping him with the Lady Bulldogs through the 2013-14 season. Landers, who took over the basketball program as a 26-year-old back on April 24, 1979, inked a three-year extension. He remains the only full-time hoops coach at the university. "I am pleased and excited to extend Andy's contract," University of Georgia Athletics Director Damon Evans said. "His commitment and dedication to the University of Georgia and to our women's basketball program is outstanding. I am confident that he will continue to build on his already impressive resume." In 34 seasons at Georgia, Landers has compiled an 807-260 record, leading the Lady Bulldogs to 28 straight winning seasons, 26 NCAA Tournaments, 17 Sweet 16 appearances, 10 elite eight finishes and five Final Fours. UGA also was the NCAA runner-up in the 1985 and 1996 seasons. Landers has also been named the National Coach of the Year four times. "I appreciate the continued support of the Georgia administration and fans, and I look forward to continuing our quest to win a national championship," Landers said.
