Daytona Beach, FL (My Sportsbook) - The LPGA Tour announced Monday that commissioner Carolyn Bivens has resigned and retired Rear Admiral Marsha Evans will take over as acting commissioner. According to published accounts, a group of players that included Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie, Juli Inkster, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer and Cristie Kerr, penned a letter asking the LPGA's board to remove Bivens from her post. Some of the players confirmed they signed the letter. Bivens was hired in 2005 and had two years left on her contract. Players were unhappy with her performance as the tour has lost seven tournaments since 2007. Evans will act as the commissioner, but stated during Monday's press conference that she will not seek the job on a full-time basis. More to follow.
