Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - The chances of Real Madrid signing Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso appear to have receded after Udinese confirmed they are in negotiations with the Spanish giants over the possible transfer of Gaetano D'Agostino. It is believed that Real have turned their attention towards the 27-year-old midfielder after making little headway in their pursuit of Alonso. "I confirm that Real are interested," said Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo. "My son was set to meet them on Friday but he was unable to, so we postponed everything until next week. "The buy-out clause of the player remains the same, $35 million, but there's always room to reason. "There are players they have that could interest us. It's an open negotiation." The Italy international, who is under contract with Udinese for five more seasons, has also been a target of Juventus this summer. Meanwhile, D'Agostino told Onda Cero of Real's interest in him: "It's the dream of any player to play at Real Madrid. They have a spectacular team. "That is why I'm nervous and excited. I thank Real for their interest. I am happy, but there's nothing official just yet." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
