Glasgow, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Retief Goosen, the 2001 champion, fired an eight-under 63 Friday to take a two-stroke lead after two rounds Scottish Open.
Goosen, a two-time U.S. Open champion, completed 36 holes at 11-under-par 131.
Adam Scott carded a four-under 67 to move into second place at minus-nine. Martin Kaymer, last week's winner in Paris, shot a six-under 65 to gain a share of third place at eight-under-par 134. He was joined there by Marcus Fraser, who carded a 66 in the second round.
First-round leader Richard Green stumbled to a one-over 72 to drop into a share of 12th at minus-six.
The cut line fell at even-par 142 and there were several big names that will have the weekend off. Among those missing the cut were Robert Allenby, Niclas Fasth, Andres Romero, Michael Campbell, John Daly, Nick Faldo, Rory Sabbatini, Anders Hansen, Sandy Lyle and Tim Clark.
Defending champion Graeme McDowell (72) made the cut on the number.
Goosen played the back nine first on Friday at Loch Lomond Golf Club and collected three birdies, including two in the last three holes of his opening nine.
Around the turn, Goosen birdied the first from eight feet out. He than ran home an 18-foot eagle putt on the par-five third, his second eagle in two days on that hole.
Goosen followed his eagle with a 10-foot birdie putt on the fourth to join Fraser in the lead at minus-10. Despite dropping a shot at the fifth, Goosen still led by one as Fraser stumbled to bogeys on 15 and 16.
After a par on the sixth, Goosen moved to 11-under with consecutive birdies from the seventh.
"I've shot 62 around here twice," Goosen said. "I do like it here. The golf course is fairly generous off the tee and I'm not one of the straightest hitters."
Goosen owns the 36-hole lead for the 15th time in his European Tour career. He has held on to win eight of the previous 14, including six of the last nine.
Scott, who has missed seven of his last nine cuts on the PGA Tour, also played the back nine first on Friday. He birdied the 12th for the second straight day, then birdied 16 to make the turn in minus-seven.
On the front nine, Scott birdied the third for second day in a row. He stumbled to a double-bogey on the fifth to slide to minus-six.
Scott rebounded with a birdie on the sixth. The Australian also birdied his final two holes to finish two back.
"I'm pleased, two rounds in the 60s in a row, it's good for me," Scott stated. "It feels really good the way my game is at the moment. My ball striking is there again, and just enjoying being out there and being able to hit some shots. It would be nice to have a good weekend, but I feel really comfortable out here."
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, a three-time runner-up this year, posted a one- under 70 to end at seven-under-par 135. He shares fifth place with Kenneth Ferrie (68), Soren Hansen (68), Soren Kjeldsen (68), Nick Watney (68), Martin Laird 70) and Thomas Aiken (66).
