Valladolid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Valladolid has made Brazilian defender Nivaldo its fourth summer signing. The 29-year-old former St. Etienne player, who spent last season in Qatar with Umm-Salal, has signed a one-year contract with the option for an additional two seasons. Nivaldo is delighted with the move, saying: "I was in Qatar but I was closely followed by teams throughout Europe. "For me, it is a big pleasure to represent Real Valladolid, I am very happy with this opportunity." Meanwhile, veteran defender Alberto Marcos has penned a new one-year contract with the club. The 35-year-old said: "In football the most important thing is to play day by day and not to seek excuses. Then, the coach is the one who decides your place. "The club continues to move ahead wisely and we are aware that we are all seeking the best for Valladolid." Marcos has spent the last 15 seasons with the club and president Carlos Suarez added: "Age doesn't matter, only the result. "Until the body says stop, he will continue playing and, because he deserves it, he will continue to play for the club until he can't run or fight anymore." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
