Washington, D.C. (My Sportsbook) - United States coach Bob Bradley added Benny Feilhaber to the team for Wednesday's CONCACAF Gold Cup game against Honduras.
Feilhaber was one of seven players added to the United States' expanded roster but didn't appear in the opening game of the tournament, Saturday's 4-0 victory over Grenada.
"I think we accomplished what we wanted to today," American midfielder Robbie Rogers said after the opener. "We wanted to come out with some energy and make a stamp on the game.
"There are things we can get better at and we all know that. We're just looking forward to the next game."
Feilhaber played a key role for the U.S. in the FIFA Confederations Cup and was the hero of the 2007 Gold Cup, when he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Mexico in the final.
The United States is trying to join Mexico as the only countries to capture the Gold Cup three straight times. The Americans also won in 2005.
Feilhaber, Jozy Altidore, Jonathan Bornstein, Conor Casey, Ricardo Clark, Brad Guzan and Sacha Kljestan were added the expanded roster, but Bradley will only call the players into the team as needed.
Freddy Adu, Stuart Holden, Rogers and Charlie Davies all scored against Grenada and are once again part of the roster for Honduras.
Feilhaber is the only player on the squad who played against Honduras in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on June 6. Davis was also with the team but did not play in the 2-1 win.
The United States plays Honduras at RFK Stadium at 7 p.m. (ET). The U.S. leads Group B, and closes out the stage on July 11 against Haiti.
