Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Maybe I'm just too big a fan of Philadelphia sports, or maybe just into serious, dark humor, but do you remember this situation?

Terrell Owens, the star wide receiver, then of the Eagles, is told to leave the team. He's just too big of a pain in the backside. He's fighting people by the whirlpool, questioning his teammates' hearts, all really bad things.

So Owens and his agent Drew Rosenhaus stage a press conference on Owens' front lawn. Rosenhaus is barely answering questions until one reporter, David Henry, hulks up enough to ask Rosenhaus, "what have you done for him (Owens) other than getting him kicked off the team?"

Even T.O. had to chuckle, but there was a bigger point and that's why the question was asked.

Why did I relay that story other than to remind everyone how disliked Rosenhaus is? A similar question is being asked on the LPGA Tour.

According to published reports, several of the top LPGA Tour stars gathered in a dinner meeting to discuss ousting Commissioner Carolyn Bivens. Picture a Mafia meeting without the FBI agents posing as waiters.

Golfweek Magazine reported that among those in attendance were Lorena Ochoa, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis. SI.com confirmed Player Director Juli Inkster was also in attendance.

Golfweek said that a letter was sent to the LPGA Board of Directors calling for Bivens' resignation. In it, this 12-woman cosa nostra said that a poor economy couldn't be all too blame.

Here are the facts. Stops in Rochester and Toledo were told there were no guarantees the events would be back. Same goes for the Michelob Ultra Championship in Virginia. Title sponsor at the Kapalua LPGA Classic pulled out this week. Three tourneys in Hawaii last year, zero this year. So much for the Michelle Wie factor.

Golfweek reported that at a player meeting at last month's State Farm Classic, players were told there were 10 contracts with sponsors in place for next year. Seven tournaments have been lost since 2007.

Those are the facts. It's been a steady downhill swoon of lost tournaments and constant sniping about Bivens' performance, honestly, since she took office in 2005.

Thus, the question, "what has Carolyn Bivens done for the LPGA Tour other than hurt it?"

Can't give you a great answer, but I will try.

Bivens has had to try and drum up interest in a sport that is dominated by Tiger Woods, not the LPGA Tour.

The economy is the worst in this country since an era so bad they called it "The Great Depression."

These are both defenses those loyal to Bivens would give. They are fair and reasonable, but so is the argument that no matter how poor the economy is, more has to be done.

The Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour have not struggled as badly as the LPGA Tour. The Champions Tour has two less regular events than the LPGA Tour and the old guys don't have Jack and Arnie out there.

The LPGA Tour has Ochoa, the most successful female athlete this decade, yet still loses sponsors? Wie may not be the story she once was, but still is a name. Market Gulbis and Kerr for the most obvious, sexist reasons - they are good-looking girls.

Seven lost tournaments since 2007 is a disgrace. Some company has to be found that can pick up the slack somewhere.

This was no power trip by these women. They care deeply about their tour and are lining up to defend themselves the only way they know how. Look at the trends and it would scare the bejsus out of you, so you act.

Yes it helped getting Ochoa and Inkster involved. The best player and the most respected make too formidable a duo to just ignore. The LPGA Board of Directors has to take this seriously and ask serious questions.

Such as, "what has Carolyn Bivens done for the LPGA Tour other than hurt it?"

Answer: Nothing.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

- Heart goes out to the Mickelson family. One member getting stricken with breast cancer is horrible. A second getting diagnosed, just days after Amy's surgery is just brutal and unfair. Best wishes to Phil's mom Mary.

- Tiger Woods cracks me up. Anthony Kim, his buddy, the defending champion and heir apparent, birdies one, but you knew Tiger would win. What I loved was, after a crappy chip at 16 on Sunday, he's lining up a 20-footer for birdie to take the lead. A camera goes off and Tiger yells, then buries the putt. Hunter Mahan motivated him. Roger Federer winning Wimbledon the same day in a 14-hour marathon motivated him and so did that poor schmuck with the camera.

- Non golf thought - "This is probably the largest event we've planned for since the 1984 Olympics -- in terms of a planned event," Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton told CNN on Tuesday. Wow. God speed King of Pop.
