Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - Sean Ochinko went 4-for-5 with a homer, and his two-run single capped a five-run sixth inning, as LSU celebrated its sixth national championship with an 11-4 win over Texas in the deciding game of the College World Series.

Mikie Mahtook doubled in the go-ahead run during the sixth inning for the third-seeded Tigers (56-17), who remained perfect as far as deciding games are considered in the championship round with previous titles in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 2000.

LSU posted a 7-6 win in 11 innings Monday night on Mahtook's go-ahead RBI single before the Longhorns got a complete game from Taylor Jungmann in a 5-1 triumph Tuesday to force a third contest.

Jared Mitchell belted a three-run homer in the first inning for the Tigers, while Ryan Schimpf drove in two runs. The six national championships ties Texas for the second-most all-time. Mitchell was named the MVP of the tournament.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to be put in a position where basically you're remembered forever in Baton Rouge now," said Mitchell. "To be a part of that company and the guys that have done it before, it's unbelievable. To put LSU baseball back on top where it belongs and for years to come...it's something special."

LSU coach Paul Mainieri, in his third season at LSU and 27th at the collegiate level, won his first national title. This marked his 998th career win.

"They did everything that they needed to do to become champions," said Mainieri. "We've won several championships this year and had we not got this one it probably would have left a little empty feeling. But we won't know how that feels now because we did it."

Texas head coach Augie Garrido was denied a chance to become the second coach to win six national titles, joining Southern California's Rod Dedeaux. The Trojans have a record 12 national championships.

Louis Coleman was on the mound in the ninth when he fanned Connor Rowe to end the game and started a huge pile-up celebration on the mound at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Wednesday's game was tied 4-4 going into the sixth inning, but the Longhorns (50-16-1) were denied in an effort to become the first No. 1 overall seed to win a national title since 1999, the first year of the current 64-team format.

The downfall for Texas was its pitching in the fateful sixth inning. It hit two batters, committed an error and threw a wild pitch.

Mitchell led off the sixth with a walk from Brandon Workman (3-5) and went to second on a wild pitch. Mahtook then doubled to the gap in right-center.

Austin Dicharry came in from the bullpen, and the first batter he faced was Micah Gibbs, who bunted. Dicharry came off the mound, but threw high to first base for an error, leaving runners at the corners. Derek Helenihi then lifted a sacrifice fly to left field. One out later, Gibbs raced to third on a wild pitch.

Dicharry walked DJ LeMahieu before Austin Wood came in and hit Schimpf with a pitch and also pegged Blake Dean to force in a run. Ochinko then bounced a single into left field for the 9-4 difference.

Schimpf's sacrifice fly in the eighth scored Austin Nola and Ochinko homered just inside the left field foul pole leading off the ninth.

Right-hander Anthony Ranaudo (12-3) gave up eight hits and four runs over 5 1/3 innings for LSU. He also walked five and fanned four, ending his night after throwing 119 pitches.

Texas starter Cole Green was charged with five hits and four runs in two innings.

Mitchell's blast to right field in the first and Schmipf's RBi single in the second moved LSU to a 4-0 lead.

Cupp had an RBI groundout in the third and Preston Clark walked with the bases full to make it a 4-2 contest. Brandon Loy, though, hit into a force play to end the inning.

Rupp singled before Kevin Keyes homered to left-center in the fifth to tie the game, but the Longhorns left 11 men on base in the game.

"They played unbelievable ball today," said Clark. "They punched us in the mouth and coach Garrido told us that's going to happen. We punched them back and they punched harder and took it to another level. We couldn't get another rally going. It's a tough loss."
