Kaka wins it for Brazil

Bloemfontein, South Africa (My Sportsbook) - Kaka converted a penalty kick in stoppage time to give Brazil a 4-3 win over Egypt in Group B play at the Confederations Cup on Monday.

The game was tied at 3-3 in the 89th minute when a volley from Lucio was kept out by the arm of Egypt's Ahmed Al Muhamadi, who was sent off for handling it on his own goal line.

Kaka then stepped up and converted the spot kick to give his team the win, thwarting a spirited effort from the Egyptians.

Kaka put Brazil ahead in the first five minutes, but Egypt came right back to level the match through Mohamed Zidan. Luis Fabiano then restored Brazil's lead in the 12th minute before Juan made it 3-1 at halftime.

Egypt fought back bravely in the second half with goals from Mohamed Shawky and another from Zidan just two minutes apart, but the late goal prevents the team from taking anything from the match.

The contest got off to a flying start as the two sides combined to score three goals in the opening 12 minutes.

Brazil struck first in the fifth minute with a nice individual effort from Kaka, who took the ball down inside the area and danced around two defenders before beating goalkeeper Essam El Hadary.

It took just four minutes for Egypt to respond as Shawky's cross from the right wing found an open Zidan at the back post and he headed home from six yards.

However, Brazil went right back on the attack and scored on a brilliant header from Fabiano. Elano drove a free kick straight into the box from midfield, and Fabiano got enough of his head on the ball to redirect it into the bottom left corner from the middle of the box.

The South American side could have added to the lead in the 24th minute when Juan sent a free header over the net from eight yards, while a well-struck free kick from Dani Alves forced El Hadary to tip the ball over the crossbar.

A third goal did arrive before the break from the ensuing corner kick, however, as Elano's cross found the head of Juan at the top of the six-yard box and he turned the ball past the keeper.

Brazil looked to be in control, but the African champions responded with two goals in two minutes shortly after the break.

The first goal arrived in the 53rd minute when Shawky took a pass from Ahmed Fathi and fired a shot into the bottom left corner from 20 yards, while just one minute later, a good through ball from Ahmed Eid allowed Zidan to get in on goal and slot his shot past goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Kaka sent a volley close in the 77th minute in an effort to break the tie, while Fathi ripped a shot over the goal from 25 yards before the dramatic ending.
