Boulder, CO (My Sportsbook) - Bobby Purify rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and Chris Brown added 127 yards and a score, as 17th- ranked Colorado won the Big 12 North Division title with a 41-27 victory over Iowa State at Folsom Field. Robert Hodge threw two touchdown passes for the Buffaloes (8-3, 6-1 Big 12), who have won two straight since their lone conference setback to Oklahoma, a team they could face for the league title in December.
Brown, who had 124 yards at halftime, posted his 13th career 100-yard game, ninth this season and eighth consecutive for the Buffaloes. Hodge finished 17- of-28 passing for 187 yards, as Colorado rallied from a 20-17 deficit to register its 18th victory in 19 meetings with the Cyclones.
Iowa State (7-5, 4-4) lost for the fourth time in its last five games. Each of those four losses came on the road against ranked opponents (Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas State and Colorado). Seneca Wallace finished 24-of-35 passing for 265 yards. He also led the Cyclones with 102 yards on 15 carries.
The Cyclones went ahead 20-17 on a one-yard touchdown run by Joe Woodley with 9:54 left in the third quarter. JaMain Billups' fumble recovery and 37-yard return set up the score. Colorado blocked the ensuing point-after touchdown attempt.
After Patrick Brougham's 40-yard field goal tied the game with 6:09 left in the third quarter, the Buffaloes scored 21 points in the fourth.
Hodge's second scoring pass, a six-yarder to Derek McCoy with 10:20 left in the fourth quarter, gave Colorado a 27-20 lead. Medford Moorer then returned a fumble 71 yards for a touchdown with 5:08 remaining to increase the lead to 14.
A six-yard run by Wallace with 5:08 remaining brought Iowa State within 34-27, but Purify capped the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run with a 1:43 left for Colorado.
Brougham's 43-yard field goal put the Buffaloes ahead 3-0 with 10:37 left in the first quarter. Hodge completed three passes on the drive, including a 10- yarder to Purify on third down.
Iowa State went ahead 7-3 on a five-yard run by Michael Wagner 2:30 later. A 48-yard run by Wallace set the Cyclones up at the Colorado 15-yard line.
Hodge's eight-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Hackett put the Buffaloes ahead 10-7 with 13:39 left in the second quarter. Brown rushed for 55 yards on seven carries during the drive.
Colorado missed a chance to extend its lead when Brougham's 25-yard field goal attempt deflected high off the right upright.
Wallace threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Lance Young with 6:58 left in the half to put Iowa State in front 14-10.
The Buffs regained the lead on a five-yard touchdown run by Brown with 2:45 left in the second quarter. Hackett's leaping 31-yard catch along the left sideline preceded the score.
The Buffaloes outrushed the Cyclones 331-207. Purify also led Colorado with five receptions for 51 yards.
