Mitchellville, MD (My Sportsbook) - Cameron Percy took a two-shot lead at the Melwood Prince George's County Open with a four-under 68 in the second round on Saturday.

The tournament had been suspended since midway through the first round on Thursday due to persistent inclement weather. The first round was finally completed Saturday morning, followed by the second round.

Percy was among the lucky players who finished their first rounds on Thursday, leaving him with just 18 holes on Saturday. He collected six birdies against just two bogeys in the second round and finished at 12-under-par 132.

Tom Scherrer also had a 68 in the second round and is alone in second place at 10-under 134.

Oskar Bergman (66) is another stroke further back at nine-under 135, while Jeff Curl (64), Adam Bland (68) and Michael Putnam (70) share fourth place at eight-under 136.

Percy, chasing his first Nationwide Tour win, arrived to practice Saturday morning feeling like he had lost all his rhythm during the long layoff.

"I thought -- oh boy, here we go," Percy said. "But I got off to a nice start, which helped. I actually played well on the back too, but just didn't make any putts."

Percy's hot start on Saturday included four birdies over his first eight holes. That kind of momentum would be a bonus on Sunday, which is set up to be a long day for everyone who made the 36-hole cut.

The third and fourth rounds will both be contested Sunday with players going off in threesomes on the first and 10th tees. They will remain in the same groups for both rounds

"You have to conserve energy," said Percy. "It's quite humid out here, so I'm going to try and rest tonight and get a good night's sleep. It's going to be a long day and you're inevitably going to hit some poor shots here and there. You just have to be patient and take advantage of your opportunities."

Money leader Michael Sim, who is chasing his third win of the season and an automatic promotion to the PGA Tour, is among 10 players tied at seven-under 137.

The cut line fell at three-under 141 with 68 players moving on to Sunday.
