Springfield, IL (My Sportsbook) - Suzann Pettersen fired a six-under 66 Friday to join Se Ri Pak in the lead after two rounds of the LPGA State Farm Classic.
Pak, who shared the first-round lead with Jee Young Lee, carded a four-under 68 as she shares the lead with Pettersen at 10-under-par 134.
Helen Alfredsson fired a nine-under 63 to jump into a tie for third place at minus-nine. He was joined there by Kristy McPherson (66), Lee (69), Kris Tamulis (68) and Moira Dunn (66).
Pettersen rolled in a 20-foot birdie putt on the second to get her round going. She followed with a 15-footer for birdie at five and made it two in a row with a four-foot birdie putt on the sixth at Panther Creek Country Club.
The 28-year-old Pettersen drained a 12-footer for birdie on the 10th to move to minus-eight. After four straight pars, Pettersen dropped in back-to-back birdies from the 15th to get to 10-under. She parred the final two holes to close out a bogey-free round.
"I didn't start too well. I woke up and thought I wasn't going to play," Pettersen admitted. "I have a slight flu coming. I was sitting in the fitness trailer for quite a while, trying to consider if I was going to play or not.
"After a few tablets and a few hot towels on my back, I kind of felt a little bit better. I decided to give it a go and I'm glad I did that now."
Pak, who shared second here in 2002, played the back nine first on Friday and parred her first six holes. She posted her first birdie on the 16th, where she sank a five-foot putt.
After a par on 17, Pak ran home a birdie putt from just inside 35 feet to make the turn at minus-eight.
Pak started the front nine with five pars in a row. She got up and down for birdie on the par-five sixth, her second birdie in two rounds on that hole. Pak closed with a 15-foot birdie putt on nine to share the second-round lead.
"A couple times I had great up and downs today," Pak said. "I still haven't made a bogey this week, which is a good thing. I was trying to not make a big mistake. I am playing really well."
Reigning Women's British Open champion Jiyai Shin shot five-under 67 and is alone in eighth place at eight-under-par 136.
Juli Inkster (65), Angela Stanford (67), Karen Stupples (68), Amy Hung (66), Seon-Hwa Lee (68), Meaghan Francella (68) and In-Kyung Kim (68) share ninth place at minus-seven.
Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie and Morgan Pressel head a group of 11 players tied at six-under-par 138.
The cut line fell at two-under-par 142 with 72 players moving on to the weekend. Among those who missed the cut were Karrie Webb (143), 2008 champion Ji Young Oh (145), Sophie Gustafson (145) and Laura Davies (146).
