Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Atletico Madrid has confirmed that Abel Resino will continue as their head coach for at least one more season. Doubts had been growing over Resino's future at the Vicente Calderon, but Atletico have now handed the 49-year-old a new one-year contract. A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "Atletico Madrid's executive committee has accepted the proposal of sporting director, Jesus Garcia Pitarch, to retain Abel Resino as the coach of Club Atletico de Madrid. "Therefore, the committee has given its approval for the sports director to negotiate contract terms with the coach." Atletico president Enrique Cerezo later told a Spanish radio station: "We have accepted Abel's extension for one more season.
