Louisville, KY (My Sportsbook) - Preakness Stakes winner Rachel Alexandra is currently stabled at Churchill Downs while her owners and trainer contemplate her next start. The three-year-old filly will be held out of Saturday's Belmont Stakes with no definite race on her schedule. This year she is perfect in five starts winning along with the Preakness, the Kentucky Oaks, Fair Grounds Oaks, Fantasy and Martha Washington Stakes. "I think everybody gets to take a step back and take a deep breath," trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. "We'll take a little bit of the pressure off her and just enjoy her. We were very pleased with how she went. We'll see what sort of energy she comes out of it with. As always, we'll be talking with Jess (majortiy owner Jess Jackson) and communicating where we feel she is." Rachel Alexandra worked out Monday morning at Churchill Downs with exercise rider Dominic Terry. The filly went five furlongs in 1:01 3/5. She galloped out six furlongs in 1:14 3/5. "She's a beautiful filly and travels tremendous," said Asmussen. "She's got a gorgeous stride on her and she seemed very comfortable. I thought Dominic did a great job with her as usual." Rachel Alexandra was purchased by Jackson's Stonestreet Stables and Harold McCormick prior to the Preakness. She has a record of 8 career wins in 11 starts and has earned $1,618,354.
