Madrid, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Atletico Madrid secured a spot in the qualifying round of the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Almeria at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday.

Sergio Aguero and Raul Garcia scored first-half goals before Diego Forlan wrapped up the scoring title with his 32nd goal of the season shortly after halftime.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla have already clinched the top three spots, which carry automatic Champions League places, while Atletico entered Saturday's match needing only a draw to hold off Villarreal.

The hosts got off to a strong start with two goals inside of 30 minutes as Aguero beat the offside trap and turned away from two defenders before firing inside the near post to make it 1-0.

The second goal arrived in the 27th minute with Maxi Rodriguez playing a long free kick to the back post for Garcia to head home.

Florent Sinama Pongolle and Forlan then went close before halftime in an effort to extend the lead, while Almeria got a rare look at goal right before the break when Alvaro Negredo was played through on goal, only to stumble with goalkeeper Leo Franco to beat.

The result was then put out of reach in the 49th minute when Forlan produced a fantastic strike from 25 yards that beat goalkeeper Diego Alves.

Treble-winners Barcelona closed out their historic campaign with a 1-1 draw against Deportivo as Samuel Eto'o scored in the 89th minute to cancel out Bodipo's opener, while Valencia kept Deportivo from qualifying for the Europa League as they beat Athletic Bilbao, 2-0.

David Villa scored seven minutes into the match, and after Mikel Balenziaga was sent off in the 77th minute for Bilbao, Villa scored his 28th goal of the season in stoppage time to seal the win.

Villarreal will join Valencia in the Europa League next season as they downed Mallorca, 3-2 with a pair of goals from Joseba Llorente.
