West Plano, TX (My Sportsbook) - Matt Kuchar fired rounds of 63-66 to post 13-under-par 129 and take medalist honors with eight spots in the British Open available Monday at Gleneagles Country Club. Kuchar collected 16 birdies and three bogeys as he finished two strokes clear of Jeff Overton. Kuchar has missed the cut in all four of his appearances at the Open Championship. The British Open will be contested July 16-19 at Turnberry. The other six players to qualify were Davis Love III, Richard S. Johnson, James Driscoll, Tim Wilkinson, Fredrik Jacobson and Martin Laird. Love has five top-10 finishes at the British Open and tied for 38th the last time Turnberry hosted in 1994. Johnson, Wilkinson and Laird all earned their first trip to the British Open. Alex Cejka, D.A. Points and Jesper Parnevik -- three of the top-five players after the first 18 holes -- were among the 70 players at Gleneagles that did not qualify for the British Open. Among the others that failed to earn a spot in the field at Turnberry were Ben Crane, Rod Pampling, Scott McCarron, Woody Austin, Nick O'Hern and Danny Lee, who gave up his spot as U.S. Amateur winner after turning pro.
