Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - Scott Dixon held the lead when the Indianapolis 500 was under caution at the half-way point due to a vicious crash involving Tony Kanaan. Dixon, the defending race winner, grabbed the lead for the first time after a restart on lap 63. Ryan Briscoe held the top position, but fell back in the field as he radioed to his crew he had lost tire grip. Briscoe made an unscheduled pit stop and fell one lap behind. Dario Franchitti reclaimed the lead after he beat Dixon out of the pits during a caution, but Dixon moved underneath Franchitti to take back the top spot after a restart on lap 91. On lap 98, something in Kanaan's front suspension broke, sending the Brazilian driver hard into the wall. His car erupted into flames briefly. Kanaan was not injured as he got out of the car with no difficulties. Kanaan joins Graham Rahal, Davey Hamilton, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Mario Moraes as those drivers currently out of the event. Rahal got high coming into turn four and brushed the wall on lap 56. Rahal was running fifth at the time. Hamilton also drove too high in turn four and tagged the wall on lap 82. Hunter-Reay and Moraes crashed in separate incidents earlier in the event.
