Inverness, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Inverness was relegated from the Scottish Premier League on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Falkirk at Caledonian Stadium.
Falkirk entered the match on the bottom of the table, trailing Inverness by two points, but after Ross Tokely was sent off in the 39th minute for the home side for a last-man challenge on Steve Lovell, substitute Michael Higdon turned home a Jackie McNamara cross in the 68th minute to keep Falkirk in the top flight.
The opening 10 minutes were tentative from both sides, but Inverness missed out on a great chance to go in front in the 12th minute when Filipe Morais cut the ball back into the path of Richie Foran, but his close-range effort was turned away by a great save from goalkeeper Dani Mallo.
Morais then fired just over the crossbar as the home side enjoyed a good spell of pressure, but things took a turn for the worse for Inverness six minutes before the break as Tokely brought down Lovell as he was attempting to get into the box, earning himself a red card.
Falkirk nearly took the lead early in the second half when substitute Mark Stewart lobbed a shot over goalkeeper Michael Fraser, but had the ball cleared off the line by Russell Duncan.
The hosts were getting pushed back further and further and the opener finally arrived in the 68th minute with McNamara dribbling down the right wing and delivering a great cross into the path of Higdon, who stabbed it home from close range.
The lead should have grown to two goals when Carl Finnigan blasted his shot over from six yards after a cross from Stewart, but the home side could only muster a long-range shot from Brian Kerr that sailed over the net while Mallo made a routine save on Duncan to secure the win.
Kilmarnock closed out its campaign with a 2-1 win at Motherwell as Mehdi Taouil scored the winner in stoppage time, while Hamilton downed St Mirren 1-0 on Simon Mensing's first-half goal.
