Manchester, England (My Sportsbook) - Sir Alex Ferguson has assured 'unsung hero' John O'Shea of a place in Manchester United's starting lineup for the Champions League final. The versatile Republic of Ireland international has made more appearances this season than any other during his eight years in the United first team. O'Shea has mainly played at right back in the absence through injury of Gary Neville and Wes Brown and will definitely start against Barcelona in Rome. The 28-year-old was an unused substitute during last season's Champions League final victory over Chelsea. "John takes his place in Rome because he deserves it," confirmed Ferguson. "Because of the injuries to Gary Neville and Wes Brown, he has become a permanent fixture and is ahead of everyone now. "To my mind, John is one of the unsung heroes like we had when Denis Irwin was here. "We used to say Denis was an eight out of 10 player every week but didn't get the celebrity status of a lot of Manchester United players. John O'Shea falls into the same category."
