BOTTS KNOCKS IN CAREER-HIGH SEVEN RUNS
Jason Botts exploded for seven RBI and Ian Kinsler plated four as the Frisco RoughRiders crushed the San Antonio Missions, 15-6, in Texas League action Wednesday evening. Frisco upped its record to 16-11 while San Antonio dropped to 16-12. Botts hit his 18th and 19th homers of the season and finished the night 3- for-6 with a double. Kinsler went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a home run, his seventh of the year. Herbert Perry chipped in with three hits and two runs scored while Jason Bourgeois knocked in two runs for the RoughRiders. Justin Thompson picked up the win out of the bullpen and improved his record to 1-1. Thompson tossed 2 1/3rd perfect innings in relief of starter Chris Young. Young was knocked around for five runs over 2 2/3rd innings. San Antonio's Felix Hernandez suffered the loss and fell to 1-1. Hernandez was shelled for six runs on six hits in 2 2/3rd innings of work. Shin-soo Choo hit his ninth home run of the season and finished the night 2- for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Missions. Michael Morse collected two RBI, two hits and also scored a run in the loss.
NINE TIMES FOR TRIBE
Midre Cummings and Jared Sandberg each homered as the Durham Bulls pasted the Indianapolis Indians, 11-1 in an International League game. The Indians (41-54) fell for the ninth time in a row, while the Bulls improved to 49-47. Cummings knocked a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Bulls a 3-0 advantage. Sandberg delivered his blast in the following inning as he chased home Pete LaForest. Jason Maxwell highlighted a six-run sixth inning with a single that scored two runs. LaForest added an RBI in the inning for the Bulls. Matt Diaz went 2- for-4 with two runs scored, a double and a pair of RBI in the win. Jeremi Gonzalez had a solid outing for Durham. In six innings he scattered three hits and allowed one earned run. Gonzalez walked two and fanned five as he improved to 2-1. The Indians' Jorge De La Rosa (1-5) was dealt the loss. In just two innings he surrendered five earned runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out three. Indianapolis' Chris Coste drove in the only run for the Indians

Garrett Jones crushed a grand slam in the first inning and New Britain plated four runs in two different innings as the Rock Cats edged the Harrisburg Senators 11-9 Wednesday. Jones' one out salami erased an early 2-0 deficit and helped New Britain win their third in a row. Jones finished 2-for-4, including a double, with four RBI and one run scored to lead the 14-hit attack. Victor Moreno (5-2) picked up the win with 2 1/3rd innings of relief work. Moreno gave up one earned run on one hit, walked two, and struck out two batters. Travis Bowyer recorded his third save after he tossed the final three innings without giving up a run. Luke Lockwood (1-14) was pounded for four earned runs in just 1/3rds of an inning to take the loss for Harrisburg. Lockwood allowed three hits and walked one batter in his short stint. Kevin West doubled, homered, and drove in three runs in the win for New Britain. James Tomlin and Luis Maza each contributed two hits. Tomlin scored two runs while Maza crossed the plate three times. Matt Scanlon hit his fifth homer of the season. Larry Broadway homered and knocked in three runs and Rich Lane drove in two runs of his own to lead the Senators offense.
BELOIT TIES MWL MARK WITH 10 2B'S
Beloit tied the Midwest League record for doubles in a game Wednesday night, rapping out 10 in a 10-0 rout of the Kernels before a crowd of 2,619 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The loss was the second straight for the Kernels (13-13 second half, 55-40 overall) against Beloit (12-14, 50-46). The Kernels also were blanked for the second straight night and fifth of the season. They have not scored in the last 20 innings. Beloit has collected 16 doubles in the past two games against the Kernels. The Snappers had 14 hits Wednesday, bringing their two-game total to 23. Wandel Campana's two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning tied the Midwest League record for doubles in a game. South Bend set the record on July 23, 2000. Campana and Manuel Ramirez had three doubles apiece. Ramirez also scored three runs and drove in two. Campana had four hits and drove in three runs. Terry Trofholz had two doubles. Beloit scored two runs in each of the second and third innings, and three in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Chris Hunter (6-4) took the loss for the Kernels. He gave up nine hits and seven runs in 5.2 innings. The Kernels had only five hits. Brandon Wood had two of them. Baltazar Lopez singled with two outs in the ninth, extending his hitting streak to eight games. Mitch Stetter (4-0) picked up the win, limiting the Kernels to two hits in five innings and striking out six.
TUGGER STEAMS HOME FOR WIN
Tug Hulett scampered home on a passed ball with two outs in the top of the eighth inning, lifting the Spokane Indians to a 2-1 victory over the Boise Hawks before 2,342 fans at Memorial Stadium. The Tribe trailed 1-0 heading into the seventh, but got a two-out broken-bat RBI single by Jim Fasano to score Ben Harrison from second to tie the game. Hulett would lead off the eighth with a walk and be sacrificed to second with two outs. He would advance to third on a Jae-kuk Ryu wild pitch, then score when a 1-2 pitch went between the legs of catcher Oscar Bernard. Boise would take the lead in the first, as Ryan Harvey lined an RBI single to right, scoring Bobby Deeb, who led off the game with a walk. The Hawks would limit Spokane to just two hits through six innings, thanks to solid pitching from Chris Shaver, Ed Campusano, and Andy Mejia.
OTTAWA WINS HOME RUN DERBY
Chad Mottola capped off a five-run third inning with two-run home run, his 12th of the year, as the Ottawa Lynx beat the Louisville Bats, 8-7, in a game that saw six home runs.. Ottawa improved its record to 47-52 while Louisville fell to 46-52. Mottola finished the night 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Eddy Guzman contributed a two-run single in Ottawa's big inning. Jose Leon (16) and Jack Cust (12) both went yard for the Lynx. Mark DiFelice picked up the win out of the bullpen and upped his record to 7-3. DiFelice gave up one run on one hit and struck out five over three innings. Darwin Cubillian pitched the final 1 1/3rd innings of the game and earned his 19th save of 2004. Louisville's Dustin Moseley was shelled in his four innings of work and fell to 0-2 with the loss. Moseley surrendered eight runs on 11 hits and two walks. Gary Burnham smacked his 5th home run and plated three runs while Felipe Lopez (9) and Stephen Smitherman (6) chipped in with a home run apiece for the Bats.

Chris Narveson did not allow an earned run over seven innings on the hill and Skip Schumaker and Papo Bolivar each drove in three runs as the Tennessee Smokies creamed the Montgomery Biscuits 8-1 Wednesday afternoon. Narveson (4-8) gave up one unearned run on just four hits to lead Tennessee to their second straight victory. He walked one batter and struck out eight. Schumaker doubled, homered, and scored two runs to lead the Smokies offense. He finished 4-for-5. Bolivar went 2-for-5 on the day. Seth McClung (0-1) was tagged for three earned runs on three hits in 3 2/3rd innings of work to take the loss. McCLung walked one and struck out four batters. Milko Jaramillo chipped in an RBI and two runs scored for Tennessee and Javier Colina doubled and scored a run. Frank Moore led Montgomery's offense as he went 4-for-4 with a double and one run scored.
TONY MILLER IS MY HERO
Tony Miller's solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning lifted the Tulsa Drillers over the El Paso Diablos, 9-8 in a Texas League battle. The Drillers improved to 17-11 with their second straight win, while the Diablos (11-17) lost for the second consecutive game. With two outs in the inning and the game knotted at eight, Miller nailed an Aric Leclair offering over the left field wall. The home run capped an excellent night at the plate for Miller who went 5-for-7 with two runs scored. Jayson Nix and Jeff Winchester each drove in two runs in the win. Chris Snyder went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI for El Paso. Adam Haley contributed a 3-for-6 effort with a double and an RBI. Tulsa's Mike Cosgrove went five innings in relief to earn the victory. He didn't allow a run and scattered three hits. Cosgrove struck out two to improve to 1-0. Leclair fell to 3-2 with the loss. He lasted 1 2/3rd innings and surrendered the winning run on two hits for the Diablos.
