San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - Rich Aurilia stroked an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to lead the
San Francisco Giants to a 1-0 triumph over Colorado in the rubber match of a three-game series from AT&T Park.
Manuel Corpas (0-3) took the hill for the Rockies in the home half of the 10th and issued a walk to Steve Holm. Randy Winn moved Holm to second with a sacrifice bunt and Aurilia hit a line drive into left-center to score the game-winning run.
Barry Zito was spectacular in a seven-inning start, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts and one walk for San Francisco. Brandon Medders (1-1) tossed a scoreless 10th to collect the win for the Giants, who have now won five consecutive series.
Fred Lewis and Emmanuel Burriss each had two hits to pace San Francisco's offense.
Jason Hammel gave up six hits, walked two, and fanned one in a six-inning start for Colorado.
Dexter Fowler, Todd Helton, and Clint Barmes had the only three hits of the game for the Rockies, who have lost three of five overall.
The Giants had a golden opportunity to draw first blood in the sixth after Lewis led off with a double to right and Edgar Renteria advanced the runner to third on a fly out. Nate Schierholtz lined out and Hammel intentionally walked Pablo Sandoval, who swiped second. Aaron Rowand then walked to load the bases but Travis Ishikawa hit a weak grounder back to the mound.
San Francisco had another chance to score in the seventh. Burriss welcomed Jason Grilli to the mound with a double to left field. Holm reached base on a throwing error from Grilli, which allowed Burriss to move to third. Pinch- hitter Winn went down swinging before Alan Embree entered and got pinch-hitter Bengie Molina to ground into a double play.
Colorado finally put together a scoring threat in the top of the ninth. With Brian Wilson on the hill, Fowler swung and missed at strike three but took first on a wild pitch. Ryan Spilborghs' sacrifice bunt moved Fowler to second and Helton was intentionally walked. Garrett Atkins went down swinging before Brad Hawpe walked to load the bases, but Troy Tulowitzki popped out to end the frame.
