At Bern, Linus Omark posted a goal and an assist, as Sweden topped Switzerland, 4-1, in Group E play.
Johnny Oduya, Johan Harju and Johan Andersson also lit the lamp for the Swedes, who are one of three teams with seven points. Jonas Gustavsson made 24 saves in the win.
Romano Lemm tallied for the host Swiss, who are fifth in the standings, three points behind Team USA, Latvia and Sweden. Martin Gerber gave up four goals on 29 shots in the loss.
Only the top four teams from each of the two qualification groups qualify for the single-elimination quarterfinals.
Later in Bern, Russia, which was already assured the top spot in Group E, rolled to a 6-1 win over Latvia.
Oleg Tverdovsky and Anton Kuryanov both found the net on two occasions for the Russians, with the former adding an assist.
In Group F, Jakub Stepanek stopped all 18 shots he faced and Petr Cajanek scored twice, as the Czech Republic wrapped up the qualification round with a 3-0 victory over Belarus. The Czechs have nine points and are tied for second with Finland. Belarus sits in fourth place with six points.
